Walter Theisinger was born in Sokolov, Czechoslovakia in 1960 and has lived in Germany since 1969. After completing his studies at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg he not only began to focus his attentions on his work as a teacher but increasingly on composing music for the student repertoire as well. His compositions comprise solo pieces, chamber music for various ensemble forces, musical settings of poems and also film music, including in collaboration with the Film & Television Academy in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Two of his compositions were awarded prizes at the 1999 and 2000 composers' competitions in Siegburg. He now teaches guitar at the Vocational College of Music in Plattling and at the Regional Music School in Straubing-Bogen. His teaching is rounded off by a lectureship at Regensburg University.
